How Are Honey Bee Swarms Created?
HOW IS HONEY BEE SWARMS CREATED?
The main cause that makes a creation of a bee swarm is when seasons and weather are changing. When the temperature is getting warmer, a swarm is created by pure instinct. The productivity of the bees is more efficient because of the warmer months. Not all is productivity when a swarm is conformed. When the lack of honey and the
number of pollen it is way high, the number of honey bee increases and the worker bees start to be inactive.
There are several types of swarms, the type who protect the queen and the type made by virgin bees that contain fewer number of bees. The creation of a bee swarm is a natural action in the colony of bees. Another way to understand the honey bee swarms is the result of overpopulation in a beehive. When a beehive is running out of space the old honey bee queen leave the hive with the half of the worker bees from the old hive, a new queen bee is hatched to lead with the rest of the Honey Bee Workers.
Swarming is a honey bee colony's natural means of reproduction. In the process of swarming, a single colony splits into two or more distinct colonies.
Swarming is mainly a warmer weather phenomenon, usually within a two- or three-week period depending on the location, but occasional honey bee swarms can happen throughout sevaral times in Texas. Secondary afterswarms, or cast swarms may happen. Cast swarms are usually smaller and are accompanied by a virgin queen. Sometimes a beehive will swarm in succession until it is almost totally depleted of workers.
One species of honey bee that participates in such swarming behavior is Apis cerana. The reproduction swarms of this species settle 20–30 m away from the natal nest for a few days and will then depart for a new nest site after getting information from scout bees. Scout bees search for suitable cavities in which to construct the swarm's home. Successful scouts will then come back and report the location of suitable nesting sites to the other bees. Apis mellifera participates in a similar swarming process.

More Honey Bee Swarm Questions
Are swarms of bees dangerous? Honey bee swarms are not highly dangerous under most circumstances. Swarming honey bees feed prior to swarming, reducing their ability to sting. Further, bees away from the vicinity of their nest (offspring and food stores) are less defensive and are unlikely to sting unless provoked
